What are ‘cookies’ and what are they used for?
Cookies are pieces of information (small text strings) placed in the user’s browser when the Website is visited that perform various important functions within the network (e.g. performing computer authentications, monitoring sessions, storing information on specific configurations concerning users accessing the server, storing preferences, etc.).
During browsing, the user may also receive cookies from different sites (“third party cookies”) on his/her terminal, set directly by those who manage such websites and which are used for the purposes and according to the methods defined by such subjects and not by the Data Controller.
Type and list of cookies used by this Website
There are different types of cookies that contain different information and perform different functions.
Each cookie contains different data (e.g. the name of the server it comes from, a numeric identifier, etc.). This data can remain on the user’s device for different periods of time: a single browser session, a few hours, several days or for longer periods.
Technical cookies necessary for navigation: these cookies are used for navigation or to provide a service requested by the user and are necessary for the proper functioning of the Website. Without the use of such cookies, certain operations could not be carried out or would be more complex and/or less secure.
Technical cookies are therefore indispensable for the proper functioning of the Site and for this reason do not require the user’s consent.
Third party analytical cookies used as technical cookies: these cookies are to be considered assimilated to technical cookies only when they are used by the Data Controller in order to optimise navigation on the Website and to collect information in aggregate form on the number of users and how they visit the Website. When they are used as technical cookies and the anonymisation measures prescribed by the Garante are adopted, analytical cookies are necessary to allow the Data Controller of the Website to improve its functioning and the user’s experience on the Website.
Marketing and profiling cookies: these cookies are used to track the user’s online browsing and create profiles based on their tastes, habits, choices, etc. Thanks to these cookies, advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user when browsing online can be transmitted to the user’s terminal.
Profiling cookies are not considered to be strictly necessary for the proper functioning of the Site and, therefore, the user may decide whether or not to install them.
The installation of profiling cookies requires the user’s consent, which can be given or revoked by the user via the “cookie banner”. The user may change this choice at any time while browsing, by means of the dedicated button.
